Telangana BJP MPs Arvind and Bandi Sanjay lambasted chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the arrest of 380 sarpanches.
Speaking to media in Delhi, Nizamabad MP Arvind claimed that the arrest of sarpanches is strangling democracy in Telangana. He also questioned the government as to how can they give check power to vice sarpanch and Panchayat secretary.
Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay condemned the arrest of the sarpanches and directed the Jagtial district collector to change his behaviour. "The government is pressurising the sarpanches to construct toilets under Swachh Bharat scheme and those who denied are being arrested," said Sanjay.
The MP also alleged corruption in the distribution of LED bulbs and toilet construction.
