The Telangana government is planning to hold homams to control the spread of COVID-19. The state endowments department said that they would conduct Sudarshana and Mrityunjaya homams at major temples in the state to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government has already sought the devotees to avoid visiting the temples for Ugadi and Sitarama Kalyanotsavam at Bhadrachalam. Several temples were also shut down for devotees as a precautionary measure. Even the government urged the people not to visit temples for Ugadi Panchanga Sravanam and asked them to stay home as it would be held at the endowments office on March 25 and would be telecast live.

People were also asked to watch the celestial Sitarama Kalyanam in Bhadrachalam live on their TV sets by staying at home.

"No devotees will be allowed for the celestial wedding and it will be held inside the temple. Like every year, the state government would submit silk robes and talambralu to the deity," said the endowments minister Indra Karan Reddy.
