Nizamabad: District Collector M Ram Mohan Rao has directed the concerned agency's representatives to take necessary steps to ensure that motorists are not affected by the Fast tag at toll plazas.

A meeting with the agency representatives was held in the Collector's chamber on Tuesday. The Collector expressed outrage that the toll plaza staff had failed to raise awareness on the Fastag. He said the single-lane allocation for cash payment motorists at the toll plaza would cause a traffic jam. The Collector said alternatives should be there to ease congestion as 14,000 vehicles pass through the toll plaza every day.

Ram Mohan Rao also directed the toll agencies to submit proposals to the government to allow three lanes for cash payments and three lanes for fast tag vehicles.

The RTO department, SBI and ICICI Axis banks have also been required to set up more counters to buy fast tags at the toll plazas. With 23 percent of vehicles already using the facility, it will take some time until the rest are aware of it, he said.

At the toll plaza, the national highway bridges are advised to take action against plastic waste and impurity. The meeting was attended by ESSEL project manager Chandramohan, consultant Mallyadri, Indalwai tahsildar Ramesh and others
