Two years ago on this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the metro services at Miyapur metro station in Hyderabad. In the first phase, the metro operations were launched between Miyapur and Nagole having 24 stations on the 30 km-long stretch.

Ever since then, the Hyderabad metro which is the largest in PPP mode has carried 125 million passengers making it the country's largest metro network after Delhi. Also, it was selected as the number one metro in the world in passenger satisfaction by global public transport operator Keolis with 99.8 per cent punctuality and scoring high on several parameters.

In the two years, the metro patronage has seen a rise from 1.51 lakhs to 3.51 lakhs per day after its operations extended to LB Nagar and Hi-tec City.

On the other hand, the HMRL officials are planning to commence the metro operations till Raidurg from Hi-tec City tomorrow. Also, the metro services on the much-awaited route between Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) are likely by the end of the year.
