A 43-member team of the Andhra Pradesh contingent will participate in the 57th Inter-State National Senior Athletics meet which is scheduled to be held at Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) in Guntur from July 15 to 18. Andhra Pradesh Athletic Association (APAA) has selected 31 men and 12 women athletes for the Nationals.

APAA, Andhra Pradesh State Government and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) will organise the prestigious mega event on the newly laid synthetic track at ANU. Synthetic track has been constructed at cost of Rs 27.60 crore and these funds was released by SAAP.

About 1,000 athletes will take part in the four-day meet from 32 states along with 200 officials. Tamil Nadu is the highest contingent with 73-athletes, followed by Maharashtra 72, Kerala 67, Utter Pradesh 67, Haryana 62, Punjab 58, Karnataka 47, Manipur 46, Andhra Pradesh 43, Rajasthan 42, Delhi 36, Chhattisgarh 31 and Gujarat 29.

About ten state athletes have reached the venue and reported to the organisers. The 125-member Indian Athletic team also arrived at the Vijayawada Airport from Odisha. Andhra Pradesh Athletic Association secretary AV Raghavendra and others welcomed the Indian contingent.
