AP Faces Power Draught; CM Request Telangana Govt To Increase Coal Supply

The unexpected trips at the power generation plants are witnessed from a week. If the reports are to be believed the CM Jagan Mohan Reddy requested the Telangana counterpart KCR to increase the coal supply from Singareni.
Power minister of AP said in a statement that the state is getting 45000 million metric tonnes of coal, which is far less than the actual requirement of 70000 million metric tonnes.
The minister said that due to the supply of 9 hours of free current, the demand has gone high in last fifteen days. Minister on Sunday held a meeting on the issue with AP Transco CMD N Srikanth and AP Genco MD B Sridhar and asked them to take necessary steps to increase the power supply. He deputed the senior officer to monitor the situation of coal procurement and power supply.
As per AP Genco officials, the power generation was hit by an accident that took place in Mahanadi Coalfields and the Singareni workers strike.
