Amaravati farmer's protests against the proposal of three capitals in Andhra Pradesh have continued for the 19th day on Sunday. The residents of 29 villages are demanding the government not to move the capital elsewhere. On Sunday, the farmers, women and the public came on to roads to agitate from dawn to dusk. In Tulluru, the women are protesting with a unique program called Vanta Vaarpu by cooking food on road. They asserted that if the government does not change its decision, they would intensify the movement further.

The Amaravati Conservation Council is also preparing to spark a movement in the capital. They demanded that the leaders of all parties join the movement in defiance of politics. On the other hand, while TDP demands to retain the full capital at Amaravati, the Rayalaseema TDP leaders Tikka Reddy and Amarnath Reddy demand to make Kurnool as capital lest merge the region in the neighbouring states. However, the TDP leaders in north coastal Andhra have welcomed the establishment of executive capital in Visakhapatnam.

The high power committee constituted for the examining of the GN Rao and BCG committee reports will meet on Monday and is likely to give its report on January 26 while the government would discuss the report in the assembly in February before making the announcement.
