CBI court dismisses YS Jagan's plea, need to attend the court in disproportionate assets case

The CBI special court has dismissed chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's petition seeking exemption from personal attendance to the court. The CBI has argued that excluding personal presence is likely to affect witnesses. The court upheld the CBI's argument that the attendance of the accused can't be exempted.

In his petition, Jagan said that he would not attend the weekly court proceedings in person while he was working for the public instead his lawyer would be allowed to attend instead. Jagan's lawyer told the court that if the CM comes to Hyderabad to attend a special court for one day in the rank of CM, the security and protocol will cost lakhs of rupees.

The lawyer said that the language used by the CBI when the counter was filed was a serious objection. They are demanding exemption from personal attendance for the benefit of the state. The lawyer informed the court that there were no allegations in six years that it had affected the witnesses.

CBI Lawyers also heard their arguments. Jagan had previously filed a petition seeking exemption from his past attendance... The court had dismissed the appeal citing that the accused might influence the witnesses as he is the chief minister.
