The Central government has approved three medical colleges to AP.

The Central government has approved three medical colleges to AP. The Health and Family Welfare department Secretary has given green signal for the establishment of medical college under the centrally sponsored scheme at Piduguralla/Gurajala in Guntur district, Paderu in Visakhapatnam, and Machilipatnam in Krishna district.

The cost for the establishment of three new medical colleges is Rs 975 crore. The approved cost for each medical college is Rs 325 crore with a central share of 60 per cent (Rs 195 crore) and state share of 40 per cent (Rs 130 crore).

Over this, the Ministry also sent a copy of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the request that the same may be signed by the competent authority of the government of AP. Union Secretary Amit Biswas urged that the copies of MoUs (in duplicate) duly signed and stamped, be returned to the Ministry at the earliest.
