Guntur: Andhra Pradesh Electricity Employees' Union has decided to observe a one-day mass hunger strike in all district headquarters across the state on January 8, to protest against the decision of the Central government for proposed amendment to Electricity Act-2003 through the Electricity Amendment Bill 2018, according to APEEU state general secretary Ganapathi VSRK.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, he urged the staff to make the proposed one-day mass hunger strike programme a success. He said that the proposed amendment seems to be a backdoor to get involved into the state jurisdiction of administration and indirectly encroaching the powers of the state as electricity come under concurrent list. He demanded that the Centre withdraw the proposed Bill immediately.
