The IT core team member from Prakasam district, ARSI Kalluri Ravi was selected by the union government for the Indian Police Medal as one of the 14 members from the state.

Ongole: The IT core team member from Prakasam district, ARSI Kalluri Ravi was selected by the union government for the Indian Police Medal as one of the 14 members from the state. He received the medal from Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the 73rd Independence Day celebrations celebrated at IGM Stadium in Vijayawada on Thursday.

Ravi joined the police force in 1989 as a constable in armed reserve forces. Having interest in information technology, Ravi attended over 50 technical and computer training programmes since 1995 and became an expert in the use of computer technology by the district police department.

He is instrumental in solving many cases from the tenure of SPs Kishore Kumar, Balasubrahmanyam, Mahesh Chandra Ladha and to present SP Siddharth Kaushal and received 200 plus GSEs and around 20 appreciation certificates. He became a member of Andhra Pradesh State Police Software Committee in 2007 and received Andhra Pradesh Police Service Medal in 2013.

Having experience of being helpful in solving more than 100 sensational cases, Ravi has trained around 4,000 police personnel on the use of various technologies. Being a person who fought successfully with a brain tumour, and the unsung hero in keeping Prakasam district in the lead in solving IT related crimes for nearly 20 years, Ravi won the hearts of many superior officers on duty.
