Kakinada: District Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said that arrangements have been completed for the distribution of house sites pattas to be inaugurated by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Komaragiri village of U Kothapalli mandal under 'Navaratnalu - Pedalandariki Illu' scheme on Friday.

Social Welfare Minister Pinipe Viswaroop, BC Welfare Minister Chelluboina Venu Gopala Krishna, Kakinada MP Vanga Geetha and MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy visited venue of CM's programme on Thursday.

The Collector said that 3,84,218 families in the East Godavari district will benefit from the state government's ambitious scheme for the poor. He said that 2,58,236 rural and 1,25,982 urban beneficiaries in the district will get house sites.

In the first phase, 1,53,626 houses were sanctioned (SCs 30,156, STs 6,399, BCs 69,186, OCs 47,885) in the district. He said 7,218 acres land was required for the beneficiaries of the housing plots and in this context 1,856.55 acres were acquired from the existing government land. And the remaining 5,362.07 acres of land was acquired from 5,850 farmers who volunteered.

He said Rs 3,167.97 crore has been sanctioned to the district for land acquisition, of which Rs 2,566.39 crore has been spent for land acquisition (LA) and saved Rs 601.58 crore.

He said that 1,635 acres of land was held up in court cases and LA issues delaying the distribution of house sites to 45,234 beneficiaries. As many as 1,532 layouts are developed with an estimated cost of Rs 540.89 crore under MGNREGS programmes. With the exception of court cases, the list of other houses will be distributed in all constituencies from December 25, the Collector said.

He informed that strict security arrangements have been made to prevent any untoward incidents during the CM's programme. A huge layout has been prepared in an area of 322.31 acres within the village limits of Komaragiri in U Kothapalli mandal. He said the layout was developed in coordination with various departments to cater to the wider interests of the beneficiaries. A total of 16,689 plots have been prepared here. The construction of the model house has been completed.

He said that parking arrangements have been made without any hassle for the people coming to the event.
