Deputy Transport Commissioner says the price of the vehicle includes cost of number plates too

Vijayawada: Deputy transport commissioner (DTC) S Venkateswara Rao said the vehicle buyers need not pay additional fee for high security number plates ((HSP). He said either the manufacturer or the dealer has to bear the cost as per the rules of the transport department. Venkateswara Rao convened a meeting with the Krishna district vehicle dealers on Wednesday and explained the rules.

The DTC made it clear the price of the vehicle includes the price of number plate. He said the number plate should contain a chromium hologram of 20 mm size and hot stamping. He said the dealers should maintain the record of number plates affixed to the vehicles. The number plate manufacturers should obtain authorisation and permission for making number plates from any one of the following institutes/organisations. Automotive Research Association of India, Pune, Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi, Vehicle Research Development Establishment, International Centre for Automotive Technology, Central Institute of Road Transport, Pune and Global Automotive Research Centre, Chennai. Venkateswara Rao suggested to the dealers to verify whether the number plate manufacturers have obtained approval certificates for manufacturing the plates and renewal was made regularly as per the rules.
