Amid allegations of police harassing TDP leaders and activists at the behest of ruling YSRCP leaders, Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association (APPOA)

Vijayawada: Amid allegations of police harassing TDP leaders and activists at the behest of ruling YSRCP leaders, Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association (APPOA) said the police are discharging their duties as per the rule law and in an impartial manner without bias and discrimination towards any one basing on the caste, religion, creed and region.

APPOA president J Srinivasa Rao, in a statement on Sunday, said that some political leaders are making statements against the police department, which he said, may demoralise the police personnel.

He alleged that some leaders with selfish motives were making comments to hurt the sentiments and morale of the police working in the state. He said the association strongly condemns such statements. However, he did not mention the name of any political party.

Srinivasa Rao made it clear the police were working without any bias for safeguarding the law and order in the state and the police personnel would not work for the personal interests and personal benefits.

He urged the political leaders to desist from levelling such allegations, which would affect the self-confidence of police personnel and erode the trust of the people on the police department.

He said the police are discharging their duties by facing many problems in the democratic system and instilling confidence among the people to give security and equal justice to the people. He reminded the Andhra Pradesh police have special place in the country and suggested to the leaders who are spreading "lies" not to forget it.

The statement comes in view of the recent allegations levelled by the TDP leaders in the state that the police in Palnadu region of Guntur district are discharging their duties in a biased manner and working in favour of the ruling YSRCP.

The TDP leaders are alleging that YSRCP cadres are attacking the TDP supporters and have been creating panic for the last three months. On the other hand, the YSRCP is denying the allegations.
