Srikakulam: Merchants in the district need to follow lockdown restrictions strictly, said District Collector J Nivas.

He was holding a meeting with traders and merchants to create awareness among them on lockdown curbs here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector explained that merchants and traders can open their shops from 7 am to 7 pm every day. Only half of staff should be allowed to work inside the shops and only five customers should be allowed at a time.

Markings are must in front of shops and commercial units to enforce physical distance among customers. Wearing of masks is mandatory and sanitisers should be made available for customers.

The Collector said the government is yet to give permission to open jewellery, cloth shops and shoe marts. There is no permission for street vendors, footpath businesses and pushcart trade.

He warned the traders of action if they are found violating the lockdown curbs.
