Nellore: YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy said it has become a practice for political parties to make promises and ignoring them after getting elected. He called for a recall system under which voters can remove elected members from the office if they fail to work up to the satisfaction of the people.

He addressed a public meeting at Gudur in the district on Sunday as part of his election campaign. Jagan mainly touched upon local problems such as problems of citrus, paddy farmers and others saying the TDP had failed to keep its promises in the last five years. He said this is right time to teach them a lesson for not keeping their promises.

He said he had observed many problems faced by people during his 3,648-km-long Praja Sankalpa Yatra in the state. He also said the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had again been coming to people as part of campaign with new promises. He said there are around 2.30 lakh government vacancies and still the ruling party ignored the problems of jobless. He reiterated to implement Navaratnalu promises which formed his election manifesto.

Jagan said the Chief Minister who visited Gudur many times, assured to resolves local problems like water, support to farmers, minimum support price, flyover and others but they completely ignored them. He reminded that the Chief Minister assured to extend branch canal of Telugu Ganga up to Gudur for resolving local water problem, but nothing was done. The flyover which is expected to club both Gudur-1 and Gudur-2 town areas still remained a promise, he said. He criticised that Chandrababu had protected interest of Krishnapatnam Port by burying the demand for Dugarajapatnam.

The YSRCP said he was fighting not only against the ruling party but also with the media houses that have been supporting the Chief Minister. He introduced Assembly candidate Dr V Varaprasada Rao and Tirupati Lok Sabha candidate B Durga Prasada Rao to the people.
