Tirupati: TTD Trust Board Chairman YV Subba Reddy said that efforts are on to counter false allegations of evangelism in TTD. Speaking at the Gita Jayanthi held here on Saturday, Reddy said some vested interests are spreading false propaganda alleging other religious activities in TTD to malign the institution.

TTD will not allow such mischievous and motivated campaign against it and making renewed efforts to put an end to the propaganda, he said adding that TTD is committed to protect, preserve and propagate Sanatana Hindu Dharma.

He said Gita Jaynathi which is being organised by TTDs Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP) in association with local ISKCON and other like-minded organisations in the city is part of TTD efforts to counter the allegation of evangelism in TTD.

Exhorting the students to follow the righteous path shown in our Dharma, he said Gita containing 700 slokas taught by none other than Lord Krishna to Pandava prince Arjuna is an eternal source of inspiration for all.

Sri Pushpagiri Mutt (Kadapa district) Pontiff Sri Vidyashankara Bharati Theertha Swamy said, Bhagavat Gita shows a human how to lead a righteous life.

TTD joint executive officer P Basant Kumar appreciated the interest shown by the parents and teachers in motivating their students to learn the slokas in Bhagavat Gita.

The Temple City which woke up to an incessant rain on Saturday sizzled to the rhythmic rendition of Bhagavat Gita slokas by thousands of students. Braving rains, the students from various colleges reached SV High School Grounds in a rally and presented slokas with utmost devotion. Earlier, the program commenced with the chanting of Govinda Namas by Bhajan team of Satya Sai Seva Organisation.

Sri Anupamananda Maharaj, the Chief of Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samiti, Tirupati branch Anupamananda, Chandragiri MLA and TTD Trust Board ex-officio Member Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy TTD Board member V Prasanthi Reddy, HDPP secretary Dr C Rajagopalan and TTD officials were present.
