Hyderabad: The death anniversary of Prajakavi Kaloji Narayana Rao was observed at GITAM Deemed-to-be University, Hyderabad on Wednesday. GITAM Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.Siva Prasad garlanded the statue of Narayana Rao and paid tributes to him. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Siva Prasad described Kaloji as a great freedom fighter and poet who dedicated his life to public service in the form of a writer, poet and civil rights activist, adding that his life should be an inspiration to youngsters.

GITAM Resident Director DVVSR Varma, GSHS Principal (I/c) Prof. Y.Prabhavati, NSS Coordinator Dr. P.V.Nagendra Kumar, Kalakriti Coordinator Dr. Lalita Sridevi, staff and students were also paid rich tributes to the people's poet. Raghuveer Narayan Laxmikanth Srinivasa Ram Raja Kaloji (9 September 1914 – 13 November 2002), popularly known as Kaloji Narayana Rao or Kaloji or Kalanna, was an Indian poet, freedom fighter, anti-fascist and political activist of Telangana. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1992. The Telangana government honoured Kaloji's birthday as Telangana Language Day.
