Bengaluru: Led by former chief minister and Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah, Congress MLAs marched from Vidhana Soudha to Freedom Park to join the farmers protesting against the amendment made to the Karnataka Land Reforms (amendment) Act.

Former deputy chief minister G Parameshwara said the Congress boycotted the Assembly session protesting the amendment to the Land Reforms Act that paved the way for non-farmers to buy agriculture land in the State. Referring to the anti-cow slaughter law passed by the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday by the BJP government, he said, "Has anyone stopped to think how will farmers who are already hit by Centre's anti farmer bills, be able to take care of aged cattle? The government is exposing itself as anti-farmer in every possible way."

"The fight for farmers is not limited to a couple of days. Our fight will go on until they get justice. Today, the Congress participated in the protest march from Vidhana Soudha to Freedom Park in support of the farmers," he added.

Other Congress MLAs who accompanied Siddaramaiah were Dinesh Gundu Rao, Zameer Ahmed Khan and Eshwar Khandre.
