Coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh: The coronavirus new strain from the UK is creating a stir in the East Godavari district. A woman from Rajahmundry from the UK was diagnosed with corona positive. It was later confirmed to be a new strain after further tests. However. Her son, who is her primary contact, got negative. The woman was rushed to hospital with her son in isolation. Schools, Colleges in Mumbai Not to Reopen Till January 15: Citing the fear of the second wave of coronavirus, the Mumbai civic body on Tuesday said schools and colleges in the city will not reopen till January 15, 2021. Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had decided to keep schools and colleges closed till December 31. In a fresh circular issued on Tuesday, the BMC said it decided to keep all –government and private — schools and colleges closed till January 15 due to the second wave of COVID-19 in other countries and the situation in some states in the country. The pandemic is under control in the Mumbai municipal limits though, it noted.

Bengal Reports First Case of New Covid Strain: West Bengal has reported its first case of a mutant coronavirus strain that surfaced in the United Kingdom, a senior health official said on Wednesday. The patient, the son of a senior official of the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, tested positive for the mutant strain VUI-202012/01 after returning from London, the official said. "The youth is undergoing treatment at the state-run hospital's super-speciality section. He is under observation. We have advised all those who have come in contact with him to isolate themselves," the official said, adding that the new strain is believed to be significantly more transmissible.

Coronavirus in Telangana: Telangana registered 474 fresh coronavirus positive cases and three new deaths until 8 pm on Tuesday pushing the total tally to 2,85,939 and the death toll to 1,518.
