Omicron Coronavirus News India Highlights: Delhi on Tuesday reported 4 new Omicron cases, taking the tally in the national capital to 6, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said. He added that of the 6 cases, one has been discharged from hospital. Officials said that all 6 are stable and have mild to moderate symptoms.

The other states to have reported the new Covid-19 variant are Maharashtra (20), Gujarat (4), Rajasthan (9), Karnataka (3), Kerala (1) and Andhra Pradesh (1) and Union Territory of Chandigarh (1).

In the last 24 hours ending December 14, 8 am, India recorded 5,784 new Covid-19 cases and 252 deaths. With 7,995 recoveries, the total number of active cases in India have declined to 88,993, the lowest in 563 days, as per the Union Healthy ministry.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has reported the first death of a person infected with the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The news was confirmed by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday.

    Patient infected with Omicron in Andhra Pradesh tests negative after 14 days

    Director of Health in the Andhra Pradesh government stated that an international traveller from Ireland, who had tested positive for the Omicron variant on December 11, has tested negative for Covid-19 after 14 days. "He is under home quarantine. All his contacts have tested negative," the director was quoted as saying by ANI.

    The patient had arrived in India on November 27.

    Jewellery designer and film personality Maheep Kapoor has tested positive for COVID-19 and is under home quarantine, her actor-husband Sanjay Kapoor said on Tuesday. Maheep, best known for featuring in last year's Netflix series "Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives", is currently asymptomatic. "She has tested positive and fortunately with no symptoms as she is doubly vaccinated. She is following all norms by being self isolated," Sanjay told PTI. There are reports that Maheep's close friend and co-star from "Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives", Seema Khan, has also tested positive for COVID-19 but there's no confirmation yet.
