2-day conclave on cereals from today
ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR) and Nutrihub- Technology Business Incubator (NIELAN-TBI) are jointly organising a unique flagship event ‘Nutri - Cereals Conclave 2019.’ This two-day event will start from November 29 at HICC.

According to Dr B Dayakar Rao, CEO of Nutrihub-IIMR, and Dr SS Rao, Director (incharge), IIMR, the aim of the conclave is to promote startups in food, agri, nutri tech ecosystem, enhance opportunities in millets value chain, webbing network among investors and entrepreneurs and spreading awareness about millets. "With the increased awareness on health and nutrition, traditional millets crops are resurfacing in the urban as well as rural areas to ward off lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and obesity. With unique advantages in their nutritional profile coupled with low input requirements, millets have become raw materials for innovation in food processing, nutritious food formulations and health planning," they informed.
With Government of India promoting food processing in a big way to enhance nutrition security of India, cereals have attained higher demand among consumes because of their high nutritional value and ease of growing them under dryland conditions. UNO also declared 2023 as International year of Millets. More than 400 participants are expected to participate in the events.
