Hyderabad: The vote percentage of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has decreased in the city compared to the previous elections of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation held in the year 2016. The party had to lose 8.4 per cent votes during this election.
The TRS might have won seven additional seats than the BJP but the votes difference between both these parties is just over 8,000 votes. The TRS polled 12,04,167 votes in this election whereas the BJP polled 11,95,711 votes showing a difference of just 8,456 votes. During the 2016 GHMC elections, the votes polled for TRS were 14,68,618, which showed a dip of 2,64,451 votes. The percentage difference between the TRS and BJP is 0.25 per cent. Out of the 149 divisions in which results were announced, the TRS has won in 55 divisions with 35.81 per cent votes. During the 2016 elections, the party had won 99 seats with a poll percentage of 43.85 per cent.
The party had given the majority of the tickets to sitting corporators and some of them had to face the defeat. The party gave tickets to 72 sitting corporators and out of them 44 had to face the defeat. The strike rate of the changed candidate was better as 20 candidates have won out of 27 divisions in which the candidates were changed.The party had to lose with slender margins in divisions like BN Reddy Colony with 18 votes, Maula Ali with 200 votes, Malkajgiri with 70 votes, Moosapet 100, Adikmet with 200 votes.
