Institute of Metro and Rail Technology (IMRT) in association with Major Academy Nigeria Ltd., has entered into an agreement to develop a curriculum for the National Diploma in Railway Training for Nigerian Railway.

Hyderabad: Institute of Metro and Rail Technology (IMRT) in association with Major Academy Nigeria Ltd., has entered into an agreement to develop a curriculum for the National Diploma in Railway Training for Nigerian Railway.

IMRT will provide training in railway engineering and technology to Nigerian trainers who are already qualified as civil, electrical or mechanical engineers. These engineers will then train local students in various polytechnics in Nigeria. The agreement envisages training of about 50 Nigerian trainers to support the emerging railway industry in Nigeria.

The training programme is of 10 weeks duration with both classroom interactions and field visits. The programme covers various topics viz: railway track technology, bridges, tunnels, railway operations & infrastructure management, railway traction, signalling & communications, railway economics and planning, high speed railway.

"IMRT is the first-of-its-kind initiative in India to offer specialised training and education for engineering graduates as well as experienced professionals in the metro and rail space including high speed railway" said Sunil Srivastava, the IMRT founder.

He added that over the past 6 years IMRT trained over 300 professionals in various aspects of railway technology. IMRT's flagship programme is one-year PG programme in metro & rail technology.
