Varuna Japam for timely rains held

‘Varuna Japam’, a prayer wishing the bountiful of rains in the state was performed here at Gandipet reservoir on Wednesday. Chief Priest of Balaji Temple Rangarajan along with other priests submerged into the water up to waist deep and prayed rain gods for abundant showers.

Speaking on the occasion, Rangarajan said the scanty rainfall in the season pushing the farming community into distress. "To have a good rainfall, we prayed the gods through Varuna Japam," he said.
