Peshawar: Some unidentified militants armed with automatic weapons attacked a police check post in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region, killing two policemen, officials said on Friday.

The militants struck the police check post in Mamozai area of Upper Aurakzai tribal district, district police officer Nisar Ahmed said. Frontier corps troops retaliated, leading to a gunfight which left two policemen dead. Later, several policemen rushed to the spot and conducted a search operation to nab the militants.
