New Delhi: The Opposition is set to corner the NDA government in the parliament on Monday, on violence which scarred North-east Delhi last week. The death in multiple violent incidents which rocked the national capital, has risen to 44.

Opposition parties have served 23 notices on the subject in the Lok Sabha. The Congress has demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation holding him squarely responsible for the Delhi riots. The principal opposition party has also alleged nexus between rioters and a section of the Delhi police.

The Nationalist Congress party NCP led by Sharad Pawar accused the BJP of instigating riots in the national capital after losing the Delhi elections.The Communist Party of India (CPI) was on the same page as the Congress and sought the resignation of Amit Shah for the inaction of the Delhi police.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has demanded a response from Home Minister Amit Shah, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded the setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee ( JPC) to investigate the Delhi violence.

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi hit out at opposition parties over the adjournment notices on the Delhi riots. Naqvi attacked opposition parties saying that those who were in the forefront of rioting want to adjourn the House now.

The Supreme Court had made critical observations on the Delhi police and stated that it was lacking in professionalism and independence.
