The COVID-19 pandemic curve continues to show an upward spike with the countrywide count now reaching 5,66,840, as per the latest update put out on Tuesday morning by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The death count now stands at 16,893. There are 2,15,125 active cases, while 3,34,822 patients have been cured or discharged.

Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Rajasthan have been contributing the most among the states in terms of the viral load in the country.

Maharashtra continues to drive the COVID-19 surge in the country with its COVID-19 tally now reaching 1,69,883 cases. The state has reported 7,610 deaths.

Delhi, which is recording around 3,000 confirmed cases in a day has reported 85,161 cases and 2,680 deaths.

Tamil Nadu has reported an overall tally of 86,224 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,141 deaths.

Gujarat has reported 31,938 COVID-19 cases and has reported 1,827 deaths.

Uttar Pradesh's tally has now climbed to 22,828 confirmed coronavirus cases. 672 deaths have been reported from the state.

West Bengal has so far reported 17,907 cases of coronavirus, with 653 deaths.

Rajasthan has recorded 17,660 confirmed coronavirus cases so far with 405 deaths.

Telangana in spite of very low testing, as compared to other states, has been recording high numbers. The state tally stands at 15,394 and 253 deaths.

Karnataka has recorded 14,295 confirmed COVID-19 cases with the total death count in the state now reaching 226.

Haryana has reported 14,210 confirmed cases and 232 deaths.
