Mamata thanks to Chandrababu Naidu for condemning ECI's ban on campaign in West Bengal
Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal CM and TMC president thanked her counterpart in AP and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday for extending solidarity over the ban on election campaign in that state by the Election Commission of India.
Amaravati: Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal CM and TMC president thanked her counterpart in AP and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday for extending solidarity over the ban on election campaign in that state by the Election Commission of India.
The ECI's decision to call off election campaign in West Bengal triggered heat in the country and all the opposition parties across the country have been reacting with strong voice.
Mamata tweeted that, "Thanks and gratitude to @Mayawati, @yadavakhilesh, @INCIndia, @ncbn and others for expressing solidarity and support to us and the people of #Bengal. EC's biased actions under the directions of the #BJP are a direct attack on democracy. People will give a befitting reply".
Extending moral and political support to Mamata, Naidu said that, "It is disturbing to see prompt action by the ECI on the complaint by @BJP4India and @AmitShah in West Bengal, while conveniently ignoring the complaints of @AITCofficial".
He said that the ECI has been giving clean chits to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on number poll violations.
"Giving clean chits to @narendramodi, taking unjustified prompt action after false complaints by @BJP4India, willful inaction on genuine complaints by opposition parties; clearly raises doubts about the neutrality, impartiality, and fairness of the Election Commission of India."
Condemning the decision of ECI in West Bengal, Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party president said that, "The EC's decision to call off campaigning in Bengal is against all norms of democratic fair play. I fully support @MamataOfficial ji in her fight to stop the undemocratic march of the two and a half men who have used and abused every institution of our country for their own gain."
Mayawati, President, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), stated that since the Lok Sabha elections are announced in the country, especially in Bengal, the BJP and RSS people are solely responsible for all kinds of violations.
The Congress also condemned the ECI for calling off election campaign before scheduled time in West Bengal, which was nothing but violation of democratic establishment.
