Flexible bronchoscope procedure practiced by city doctors
After learning about a case with a betel nut struck in the trachea that has obstructed functioning of a lung, doctors at Gayatri Hospital in the city had successfully operated it through a procedure called Flexible Bronchoscope.

Elaborating on the details, Paediatric pulmonologist Dr P Pavan Kalyan here on Sunday said that a baby of 19 months age has been brought to the hospital with respiratory disorder.
Initially though we have ignored the possible presence of a foreign body, after observing recurring of the problem in the child, we conducted a thorough checking to find out that there is a betel nut.
With flexible and rigid bronchoscope, which has been administered by the specialists in the city for first time, we happened to treat the baby. The baby displayed immediate recovery after the nut was retrieved, he said. Paedeatric surgeon Dr K V Ravi Kumar, Dr Ambula Subba Rao and others were present during the meet.
