As a part of the programme, a music concert with the songs of Ghantasala was organised by the Department of language and culture, Amgadi Sivaprasad, Suseela, BK Ramu and Srinivas presented the songs of Ghantasala from various films. Bhaskar on Keyboard, Satesh and Chittibabu on Tabla, AV Ramana on pads supported the musical concert.
“The Andhra Pradesh Government announced Rs 1.50 crore to set up a museum for the display of the assets and memories of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao,” said Dr D Vijaya Bhaskar, Director, Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in a meeting held in commemorate the 94th birthday celebrations of noted film singer and freedom fighter Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Sunday evening. Dr Vijaya Bhaskar added that Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad has announced this in a meeting held in Bapu-Victoria museum.
Dr Jandhyala Sankar, Former Mayor, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation requested the state Government to convert the Viswanatha Satyanarayana house as an historical monument and action may be initiated to set up a museum in the name of Viswanatha Satyanarayana, who was a great poet and recipient of Prestigious ‘Gnanpith’ award.
Deputy Mayor Gogula Ramana said that the state Government is keen on protecting the culture and plans are under active consideration. Dr Turlapati Kutumbarao, Ghatasala Ratnakumar, Prof Ranganath, Amanchi Chandrasekhar, Bhaskaruni Satya Jagadesh also spoke on Ghatasala Venkateswara Rao.
On this occasion, a short film titled ‘Gandhi margam lo Ghantasala’ was screened. The short film depicts the Ghantasala as a freedom fighter. The short film was directed by Bhaskaruni Satya Jagadesh. A book on Ghantasala titled ‘Epitome of tradition and the individual talent’ was also released on the dais.
