MLC Dokka Manikya Vara  Prasad said the  great poet Gurram Jashua  used literature  as  a  weapon and  fought  against  superstition and got a prominent place among Telugu poets. He garlanded the statue of great poet Gurram Jashuva at  Kannavarithota in Guntur city and paid tributes to him on the occasion  of   the poets 122 birth anniversary celebrations.

MLC Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad said the great poet Gurram Jashua used literature as a weapon and fought against superstition and got a prominent place among Telugu poets. He garlanded the statue of great poet Gurram Jashuva at Kannavarithota in Guntur city and paid tributes to him on the occasion of the poets 122 birth anniversary celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, we are proud, because Jashua was born in Guntur district. Jashua’s birth anniversary weekly celebrations will start from tomorrow, in Guntur city. He also added that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will participate in the valedictory function on September 28.Artists performed folk dances on this occasion.

Several poets and writers like Gurram Jashua Vignan Kendram committee members participated in the padayatra. Holding placards stating Jashua Kavitvaniki Pattabhishekam, they conducted the padayatra. Later,he conducted a padayatra from the Gurram Jashua statue to the Ambedkar statue at Lodge Centre in which former MLC KS Lakshamna Rao, former VC Kolakaluri Inak and other poets participated.
