Happy Sunday programme being organised by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) in association with other associations is gradually losing its charm.
Happy Sunday programme being organised by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) in association with other associations is gradually losing its charm.
Attendance for the weekly event is gradually declining over the weeks. On Sunday, the attendance turned very low. When it was started nearly one year ago, a large number of people used to attend the Weekly programme and enjoyed participating in sports, games and musical programmes.
But, the programme has been diverted to BRTS Road, Punnami ghat and Panta Kaaluva Road in Patamata for the last few months to attract more people. Unfortunately, it led to a decline in attendance at the main venue Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation.
Youngsters lost the habit of attending the programme at IGMC due to change of venue every week. Besides, higher officials are also not attending the event regularly. All these factors have lead to it losing its charm and glamour. Less than 300 youth participated in Happy Sunday programme on MG Road near IGMC stadium. Nonetheless, programmes still went on and for the people who attended the programme got their share of Sunday fun.
