Odalarevu village is major beneficiary of ONGC’s social welfare programmes
ONGC is Govt of India owned national energy company engaged in exploration and production of precious oil and gas resources for development of the nation.ONGC has been working in East Godavari district for several decades.

With support of local people and govt,ONGC has been successful in finding large quantities of oil and gas in both on land and in sea. The large gas finds in offshore would soon be available for development of people of Andhra Pradesh particularly of coastal areas.
Besides being in business of oil and gas, ONGChas been partnering with progress of the people living near its operational areas by providing education, skill development trainings, medical and healthcare and infrastructural facilities like roads and community centres etc.
ONGC Eastern Offshore Asset, Kakinada has its major gas terminal at Odalarevu in Amalapuram Mandal. ONGC in close association with public, panchayat and govt has been working consistently for prosperity and sustenance of the local people here.
During the last three years nearly Rs.3.5 Crore has been spent towards development ofOdalarevu through ONGC’s CSR funds only. Many development works have been undertaken which have been well appreciated by local people.
900 persons have received employment benefit through contractors working on ONGC projects at Odalarevu.
ONGC is actively considering grant of Rs.2.58 Crore for providing drinking water to the individual houses in Odalarevu village thru State Government RWS Scheme. Earlier, ONGC has helped villagers with tanker supply of water spending over 11 lakh rupees.
Providing electric connections though are not covered under ONGC CSR schemes however ONGC proactively provided 310 solar street lights to Odalarevu village spending about 65 lakh rupees which includes maintenance for five years.
ONGC has been extending help to villagers for training and schooling needs. ZPP High School, Odalarevu, has regularly been given CSR grant. 51 studentsreceived Merit Scholarships, 77 bi-cycles were given to students, 252 students benefitted through Vidya volunteers getting special coaching. Also sewing machineswere given to girls for training etc. Driving school training has also been given to youth.
ONGC has been extending help for providing medical facilities for the villagers. Recentlyinfrastructural facilities at Public Health Centre (PHC) at Bendamurlanka has been completed at cost of Rs.8,84,794 benefitting large number of people of nearby areas including Odalarevu.
One additional Mobile Medical Unitbesides one already in operation,has been given at Allavaram Mandal in addition to the one already provided by ONGC to cater to the medical requirements of villages in and around Odalarevu.
This is forbringingmedical facilities at doorsteps of the villagers of the nearby areas. ONGC has been organising several medical camps regularly in this areas for taking care of weak and old people.
A 6-month Training programme was organizedfor ladies by Red Cross Society for sewing machine and fashion design training at Amalapuram which was completed in Nov.2017 benefitting 135 women.
During 2016-2017, Rs.20 lac has been sanctioned for construction of 200 Nos. IHHL at Odalarevu and funds already been released to District Collector.
Earlier in 2014-15, Rs.2,58,000/- werespent for construction of 43 Nos. toilets at Odalarevu. Swachh Bharat Kits have been distributed to villagers worth Rs.6,15,000/-.
Beach protection work along the coastal line has been one of the major demands for which ONGC has taken action for inviting tenders and is expected to be completed by 2019.
For construction of Community Hall in Fishermen area at Odalarevu Rs.4,65,761/- were given by ONGC to RDO, Amalapuram. Further Rs.9,90,487/- has been giventhis year for construction of community hall in the PACS (Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society) premises at Odalarevu.
During the last three years almost Rs.3 Crore has been spent towards infrastructure development of Odalarevu.
Rs.93,32,925/- has been sanctioned towards construction of 23 nos CC Roads totalling length of 6,231 metres in Allavaram Mandal. First instalment of Rs.50 lac was released on 30.10.2017.
Road works of 11 Nos. at Odalarevu were undertaken through CSR assistance of Rs.53,86,923/- for the development of the operational area at Odalarevu.
During 2016-17,Rs.7 lac were sanctioned for providing CC Roads (2 places) at Odalarevu.
And Rs.16 lac released for construction of Internal CC Drain in SC Colony at Odalarevu out of Rs.19,84,994/- sanctioned.
It should be noted that road work from Bendamurlanka to Panchnadi river bridge and from Panchnadi bridge to Odalarevu bus stop and to Kadadari junction will start from January 2018 fulfilling major demand of the people.
Odalarevu village has emerged as one of the major beneficiary of ONGC’s social welfare programmes. ONGC , with help of people hopes to continue its contribution towards nation building and to work for prosperity of the people.
ONGC spends RS 3.5cr under CSR
In association with local authorities, ONGC has developed close working relationship with people of Odalarevu to identify and assess their needs. ONGC regularly interacts with public representatives and govt bodies and social organisation to undertake welfare works.
