Ongole: The Prakasam district mobile court imprisoned 20 persons and imposed cash fine for 62 people on Wednesday for drunken driving and violation of Motor Vehicles Act.

The Ongole traffic police DSP, K Venugopal along with the SIs D Ranganath, K Hanumantha Rao and other constables arrested 62 persons for drunken driving and violation of road safety rules, Motor Vehicles Act and presented before the mobile court on Wednesday.

The judge imposed a fine of Rs 2,100 for each person and the police collected Rs 1,30,200 from them. The court also imprisoned 20 persons for four days each who drank above 100 percent of the permitted limit. The Ongole traffic police offered counseling to the remaining people who involved in the drunken driving at the traffic police station.
