vhHyderabad: Breathing fire against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao on Friday threatened to go on a fast unto death after May 10 if the State government does not concede to his demand to allot seven acres of land at Amberpet for construction of a park in memory of former chief minister T Anjaiah and an auditorium in memory of Gouthu Latchanna. At a press conference here on Friday, Rao said that Kiran Reddy had not paid any heed to his repeated requests and alleged that Kiran was only concerned about being in power till 2014. He said that the Chief Minister was not even helping his own partymen to keep up the promise they had made to the people. Rao said that the government had notified this land for public purpose and a building for the government Urdu medium school under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan was being constructed there following an initiative that he had taken in the matter. He said, the land was a water body till 1998 but, later it was encroached by land sharks. He said that on his request, the then chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the auditorium. He said since then, he has been running from pillar to post to get it regularised. Surprisingly, the land was regularised, but in the name of Mohammaed Bahaduruddin Khan. Rao said this land was worth Rs 300 crore. He said that he had made several representations to the government and the Chief Minister but got no response from them. He alleged that the former advisor to the government KVP Ramachandra Rao had played a key role in regularisation of the land in the name of Khan. "What is the use of being a Member of Parliament if I cannot prevent land encroachment in my own area where I was brought up and what is the use if I cannot fulfil my promise of a school, an auditorium and a park," Rao lamented. He said that he was left with no other alternative except to sit on a fast unto death. Replying to a question, he said that the party image had dented as names of the ministers were figuring in the chargesheet filed by the CBI.
