Hyderabad: The challenge thrown by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy questioning the validity of the Draft T Bill is heading for a flash point and the State Assembly is likely to witness pandemonium on Monday.
The T Congress leaders including Ministers who met at the house of Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah are getting ready to confront the Chief Minister on the floor of the Assembly.
They feel that Kiran has now dragged the Speaker into an avoidable controversy on the T Bill. The notice for a motion to reject the
Bill by Kiran is exactly same as the one that was moved by YSRCP which the Speaker has been rejecting every day, Ponnala said. Spitting fire against Chief Minister, he said Kiran has been taking unilateral decisions.
Being in constitutional position Kiran has no right to violate or go against the Constitution. He said Chief Minister should immediately retract from his move and withdraw the notice to reject the Bill. If he does not do so, the Speaker should reject it as he had done in case of YSRCPs notices. He called upon Kiran not to work in an unconstitutional manner.
He further alleged that Kiran had deliberately wasted time in the beginning and later in three phases expressed his views and behaved in “irresponsible” manner by giving a notice to reject the bill. “It is dictatorial attitude, “he said. Asked what they would do on Monday to counter the moves of Chief Minister, Ponnala said he would not reveal their strategy now. We will evolve our strategies depending upon how the situation arises on the floor of the Assembly. No one can stop the formation of separate T State,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha met Speaker and discussed with him the notice given by the CM and urged him to reject it. The Dy CM was accompanied by Ministers J Geeta Reddy and Ponnala Lakshmaiah and MLC Shabbir Ali.
BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said it was shocking to see that Kiran had realised that the Bill was not in order after 50 days. Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarsimha said that they had stopped considering Kiran as their leader and would rebut all his attempts to stall the formation of T state. “We are still part of his team only because he happens to be the Congress CM.”
On the other hand, Kiran held confabulations with Seemandhra ministers and leaders and reiterated that they should press for a resolution to reject the T bill. They insist that though the draft bill was sent by the President under Article 3 of the constitution, there is nothing that can stop the Assembly from moving a resolution. The Assembly had full rights, Kiran told Seemandhra ministers. Kiran was learnt to have asked all Seemandhra MLAs to be present in the Assembly on Monday by 8 am without fail.
Sources here add that Speaker is likely to convene a meeting of BAC on Monday morning to resolve the crisis.
