Visakhapatnam: M V S Sarma, MLC of north Andhra graduates constituency found fault with the government for not including bauxite GO 97 in cabinet meeting and dubbed the move to with hold the GO as a mere eyewash.

“Though government has bogged down to the pressure by opposition parties, MLAs of the region, tribal welfare associations, environmentalists, social activists and intellectuals, it does not mean that the TDP government has dropped the idea of bauxite mining for good,” he opined.

Speaking exclusively to The Hans India, Sarma said that the very statement that government will take confidence of people suggests that it is inclined towards mining. “Gram sabhas, public hearings and resolutions passed by mandal parishads have strictly opposed bauxite mining and tribals are united on their stance against mining,” he informed.

The MLC demanded the State government to cancel the GO. “Apart from cancelling the GO, the government should cancel mining lease given to APMDC and also cancel all agreements reached with ANRAK and Jindal companies,” he urged.
