Steel Secy lauds Steel Plant’s ambitious plans

Visakhapatnam: The Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Aruna Sundararajan, who visited the Steel Plant here on Thursday, launched the renovated and modernised convertor-1 at the Steel Melt Shop (SMS).
The convertor-1 was renovated after a period of 25 years operation with latest technologies without changing the original lay out and the entire job was carried out with strict adherence to safety and environmental norms.
The Steel Secretary visited the Model Room and Awards Gallery, major production units like Coke Oven Battery, Blast Furnace-3 and Wire Rod Mill-2. Steel Plant Chairman and Managing Director P Madhusudan explained to her the technical know-how incorporated in the plant.
She planted saplings at the Dedication Park to mark the occasion of her visit. Later, addressing the Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) under the Ministry of Steel, the Steel Secretary said that the role of vigilance is multifold in the era of e-Commerce, e-Auction and e-Procurement. She asked the CVOs to strive to bring in fairness and transparency through systematic improvement.
The CMD in his opening remarks said that vigilance wing has to extend a supportive role to the management in the present competitive market environment. Joint Secretary Sunil Bharatwal was also present at the meeting.

G B S Prasad, D N Rao, T V S Krishna Kumar, P Raychaudhury and Chief Vigilance Officer of RINL B Siddhartha Kumar were present.
Earlier, addressing the top management officials, the Steel Secretary, Aruna Sundararajan, lauded the Steel Plant management’s ambitious growth plans and strategies to deal with the challenges while reviewing the performance of the company.
She stressed the importance of human resource management as vital for the success of any organisation and assured all help to the RINL in its journey towards excellence from the Union government.
She was also impressed with the greenery in and around the plant and the township.
