Amaravati: As many as 25 persons, including 15 children, were injured when a stray dog attacked them while they were walking on the road at Subhaninagar, Rajannapalem and Subbaiahthota areas in Chilakaluripet town on Monday morning. One of the children was seriously injured.

The canine bites 25, including 15 kids, before being killed by locals

According to sources, the children were playing on the road and some others were walking on the road when the dog attacked them. The dog first attacked the children at Subhaninagar. When the locals pelted stones at the dog, it entered Rajupalem and Subbaiahthota areas and bit some more persons. The locals killed the dog as a precautionary measure.

The injured have been shifted to Government Hospital in Chilakaluripet. As many as 13 persons, including nine children, have been shifted to the GGH for better treatment. Regional Medical Officer Dr T Ramesh who is supervising medical services to the patients in GGH said, “We have admitted 9 children who were injured in the dog attack. One boy is seriously injured.

The dog bit him on the upper lip. We have discharged four persons and giving treatment to children. They are out of danger.” Chilakaluripet Municipal Commissioner N Kanakaiah said, “As per the Supreme Court orders, we have sterilised 380 dogs in Chilakaluripet town so far for birth control. A veterinary assistant surgeon has been asked to conduct the inquiry into the incident.”
