As part of development of mini stadiums in all the assembly segment headquarters, the Congress government had allotted a stadium for Amudalavalasa Assembly segment headquarters.

​Srikakulam: The Green Field Stadium works at Amudalavalasa town are going on at a snail’s pace. Foundation stone was laid on November 12, 2013 with an estimated cost of Rs 2.10 crore, but cost was escalated to Rs 5 crore due to delay.

As part of development of mini stadiums in all the assembly segment headquarters, the Congress government had allotted a stadium for Amudalavalasa Assembly segment headquarters.

With an aim to encourage rural youth in different sports and games, the Congress government had started the construction of the stadiums.

Local Congress MLA Boddepalli Satyavathi laid foundation stone on November 12, 2013 and the then Union Minister for Tribal Welfare and Panchayat Raj V Kishore Chandra Deo, Union Minister of State for IT and Communication Killi Kruparani, District In-charge and Law Minister Yerasu Pratap Reddy, Minister for Medical Education K Murali Mohan were the chief guests at the foundation laying ceremony.

Even after two years and nine months, stadium works are yet to be completed. The stipulated time fixed for completion of works was one year, but due to delay in the construction, estimation was escalated from Rs 2.10 crore to Rs 5 crore.

Only half of the compound wall works were completed in two years and nine months. When contacted district sports development officer B Srinivas Kumar admitted that works were stopped due to increase in construction work cost.
