Kurnool: The Kovelakuntla Circle Police on Thursday arrested one person on the charges of burglary and he was brought before media in the presence of Superintendent of Police, Ake Ravi Krishna at Ved Vyas Auditorium.

Disclosing the facts about the burglary to media, Ravi Krishna said a case had been filed with the Kovelakuntla police in connection with huge quantity of gold theft at the shop of Pendakanti Anjaneyulu , a goldsmith, on May 17. Anjaneyulu was said to have gone to Hyderabad with his family members when the burglary took place at his shop.

On returning from Hyderabad, he found his shop was emptied and immediately brought it to the notice of the police who in turn filed a case basing on the complaint lodged by Anjaneyulu, he stated.

After registering a case the Allagadda SDPO, Eshwar Reddy took up it as a challenging task. He formed a team comprising Kovelakuntla police station Circle Inspector Srinivasulu Reddy, Sub Inspectors P Chandra Sekhar Reddy, M Sreedhar, O Vijay Bhaskar, Venkata Subbaiah and other police staff and took up investigation, he stated.

On getting valid information about the whereabouts of the burglar, the team raided the spot Kundu Bridge where he was sheltered and apprehended the accused. During the course of investigation the accused- Bollipalli Shiva Kumar, a resident of Julepalle village under Gospadu Mandal- confessed and said that he had kept the stolen gold at his house. Around 3.5 kgs of gold besides a cash of Rs.15 lakhs has been recovered from him, he stated.
