Minister makes surprise visit to railway station

Guntur: Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao conducted surprise visit to Guntur railway station enquired about price of mineral water, cold drinks and snacks being sold in the railway station.

He verified IRCTC certificate and instructed the Legal Metrology department officials to verify price, expiry date of the biscuit packets and other eatables.

He directed the metrology department officials to book cases if they sell eatables at a higher price. He said that there is no need to compromise on quality and price and urged the consumers to inform on toll free number 1100 if they found any deficiencies.

He directed the officials to set up complaint boxes on the railway platforms.Later, speaking to the media, Pulla Rao said that mineral water and eatable are being sold at higher prices in the multiplexes, shopping malls, RTC bus stands and railway stations. Hence, they conducted surprise inspections.
