Guntur: ‘Pratyekahoda Sadhana Samiti’ and political parties decided to stage a protest at Dr BR Ambedkar statue on March 27 to mount pressure on the Centre to accord Special Category Status to the state and fulfil all the assurances mentioned in the State Bifurcation Act.

Addressing a press conference at the CPM office here on Sunday, CPM district secretary Pasam Rama Rao said that he criticised that the BJP government had took the people of the state for a ride.

YSRCP Guntur city president L Appi Reddy reminded assurances had given to the state by M Vnekaiah Naidu in the Rajya Sabha. He called upon the political parties to agitate unitedly to mount pressure on the Centre for Special Category Status. He warned that if BJP fails to keep up its assurances, voters will teach a lesson to the BJP in the ensuing elections.
