Visakhapatnam: Andhra University Common Entrance Tests (AUCET)-2018 for admissions into PG courses in Science, Arts Engineering and Law Colleges, 6 years B Tech and M Tech dual degree programmes in engineering have been commenced on Monday.

The AUCET is being conducted in 14 centres including Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, Elugu, Vijayawada and Guntur.

Andhra University Vice Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao inspected the examination centres at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and PG courses at MVP Colony and AU College of Engineering for Women in the city. The VC also inspected other examination centres in afternoon sessions at various locations.

According to varsity officials, 88.80 per cent of students appeared for the AUCET on Monday. On the first day, entrance test for admission into Physical Sciences, M Com, Geology, Statistics, English, Telugu, MHRM and 6-year B Tech+M Tech dual degree programmes were conducted.

The admission into 5-year Integrated Programmes for Geology and Applied Chemistry, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Economics will be conducted on May 15.

The results for the AUCET-2018 will be announced before May 23. The admission process will be commenced from the last of week of May through counselling centres which will be announced later.

Admissions to the courses without tests would be made based on the marks in the qualifying examination and the candidates would be called for interview directly.

The sciences courses without test are M Tech, Atmosphere Sciences, Ocean Sciences and Petroleum Exploration and Production. Admission into MA Sanskrit, Hindi and BFA courses would be conducted without entrance test, said Director, Directorate of Admissions, Andhra University Prof K Rajendra Prasad.
