Amaravati: The State government directed the Pollution Control Board to establish a special monitoring system to keep an eye on the pollution being released from industries.

The government also instructed to take stringent action against the industries if they violate pollution control norms. During a review meeting on Tuesday, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar instructed the officials of the Pollution Control Board to establish a monitoring system within two months to inspect industries and estimate the pollution levels.

“The Pollution Control Board should set up a control room and coordinate with Real Time Governance (RTG) to monitor the pollution released from industries. The board must act tough if the Prevention and Control of Pollution Act is violated,” he said. He also sought to know the number of cases registered so far against the industries.

He asked them to ensure increasing greenery in the premises of industries. The Chief Secretary instructed the Principal Secretary of forest department to conduct monthly reviews with departments concerned to review on greenery.

“Special measures should be taken to increase greenery. The departments should not neglect the saplings after plantation. The forest department should exhibit videos in the next meeting on progress of increasing greenery across the State,” he said.

The Chief Secretary suggested that steps should be taken for development of eco-tourism in the State under public-private partnership system. He gave green signal to fill vacant posts in forest department.

Dinesh Kumar suggested to the AP Forest Development Corporation to formulate a special training programme for skill development for tribal community in Agency areas.

“The skill development programme will help in increasing the income of tribal people. The tribals who work in cashew nuts processing units and are in the profession of gathering honey and coffee leaves should be given the training to improve their skills. They should also be involved in cultivation of fruit farming,” he said.
