Kurnool: Accompanied by MLC KE Prabhakar, MLAs Mani Gandhi and SV Mohan Reddy, and District Collector S Satyanarayana, Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh inaugurated Anna Canteen at Parimala Nagar near Bellary crossroads here on Wednesday.

After inaugurating, they tasted the food being served at the canteen. Speaking on the occasion, TG Venkatesh said the food is tasty and affordable. A person can have a tiffin and two-time meal for Rs 15 only.

“The actual cost of the food is Rs 72, but it is being served for Rs 15 at Anna Canteen,” he revealed. The MP mentioned that Andhra Pradesh is offering the tasty food for Rs 15 after Tamil Nadu. He made an appeal to the people to make use of food distributed by Anna Canteens.

Mani Gandhi and SV Mohan Reddy said the government has launched Anna Canteens across the state with the intention of feeding the poor. In the first phase, around 11 canteens are being set up across the district.

The first canteen of the district was launched at Parimala Nagar, they stated. KUDA Chairman Somisetty Venkateswarlu, Dr CB Harinath Reddy, Commissioner of Kurnool Municipal Corporation, MEPMA Project Director Nagaraju Naidu and others participated the inaugurating ceremony.
