40 more Anna Canteens by July-end: Minister

Nellore: Municipal administration minister P Narayana said 60 Anna canteens have been launched in state so far and 40 more will be opened by the end of this month. The minister inspected the Anna canteen at Tadikela Bazaar in the town on Monday morning and had a breakfast there.

The minister said there has been good response from the people on quality of food being served in the canteens and they were demanding some more canteens at the thickly populated places based on demand. He said the scheme is being appreciated by people across the country and added that the government was also providing air-conditioned facility in these canteens.

Vising the housing project at Allipuram with officials and local leaders, Narayana said five lakh houses would be completed by March next year. He said housewarming ceremonies were going to be held for 50,000 houses next month.

The houses are being constructed utilising shear wall technology that survives even natural disasters. He asserted that they were committed to the welfare of the poor and housing wouldn’t be stopped under any circumstances.
