Undi: Narasapuram MP Gokaraju Gangaraju has said rural areas are being developed because of liberal funding from the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. Funds are being released under the Central government schemes such as National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and other grants.

Accompanied by Undi MLA Vetukuri Venkata Sivaramaru the MP took part in various development programmes at his adopted village of Mahadevapatnam village of Undi mandal on Sunday. He inaugurated some programmes and laid foundation stone for several development works.

Gangaraju claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had funded liberally for various schemes after Andhra Pradesh bifurcation. Mainly, the Centre had diverted 14th Finance Commission funds which had been crucial for development of roads, drainages and water schemes in rural areas.

He also said that individual toilets, national rural drinking water scheme and Hudco funds had helped in benefiting people below poverty line (BPL). He appreciated the adopted village president Juttiga Srinivas and board members for good services to the people and proper utilisation of the funds.

MLA Siramaraju said that nearly Rs 4 crore funds were sanctioned for road connectivity to various places.

TTD former member Gokaraju Ramaraju, former Sarpanch Juttiga Srinivas, AMC chairman Sagiraju Sambasivaraju, ex-AMC chairman MV Narasimharaju, MPP D Lakshmi and others attended the programme.

Two water tanks worth Rs 1.02 crore were inaugurated and foundation stone was laid for Rs 1 crore CC road passing through the village.
