Vijayawada: NSS Volunteers of SRR and CVR Government Degree College planted 200 saplings in the college on Thursday, to mark the Vanam-Manam programme launched by the state government to enhance green cover.
The event was organised under the guidance of college principal Velaga Joshi and NSS coordinator M Hari Prasad.
G Murali Krishna, additional superintendent of police, CID, was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Murali Krishna said the protection of environment was the need of the hour.
He congratulated the college, lecturers, students, NSS volunteers on the occasion.
He said the college has beautiful trees because of saplings planted by former students of the college.
